Anyone bought a car on Black Friday or around/after Xmas/New Years Eve?

It's time for the wife to get a new one. We were planning for this spring, but think we are going to pull the trigger early.

I suck at buying cars. I'm just not a haggler or a shrewd dealer. I'm a "look at the price and walk away" kind of guy.

I need some kind of starting point to see if i'm getting just a normal good deal (as they all seem to be) or an "oh shit, this is too good to pass up" deal.

Advice? I'm also not going to pay the 4.99% interest that some of the dealers have quoted (yes, i'm taking a note...60 mo. probably. I'm going to see if USAA can do better.
